3 comments:

  1. 1.''And poured them down before him.
    we are sent
to give thee from our royal master thanks,''
    2. because there is a break in the iambic pentameter
    3. this is a good example of the use of iambic pentameter, and the way that he uses the language to enhance the build up of our hero.
    4. iambic pentameter is used through out the story, except when shakespear is done showing of or our characters are going mad.

  2. Shakespeare: Macbeth Act 1 scenes 1-3
Quote from act 1, scene 2, page 2
Duncan:” So well thy words become thee as thy wounds; they smack of honor both. Go get him surgeons”
(Your words, like your wounds, bring you honor. Take him to the surgeons)
It provides important information about Duncan, and what kind of king he was - he spoke respectively to them and didn’t look down on them. There is a certain feel of comradery. He sounds like he cares about his people and acknowledges their effort in the battle. It makes him a popular king, but maybe not as respected and feared as a king should be at this time.

  3. Scene 3 quote: By Nicoline, Sebastian og Christian L.

A.1, S.3, P.4: Banquo: “The earth hath bubbles, as the water has,
And these are of them. Wither are they vanished?” (Act 1, scene 3, Page 4)

We chose this quote because there is a connection to the chain of being. However, Banquo and Macbeth are not certain where in the chain of being the witches fit in. This is why they talk about the earth having bubbles. Usually you do not talk about the earth having bubbles, but Banquo does this because he is not certain about the origin of the witches and if they are even human.
It relates to the rest of the play because the play overall is very confusing. It is confusing because you are not sure who to trust.
The iambic pentameter, which is present throughout the play is suddenly gone in this passage due to Banquo and Macbeth’s confusion about the disappearance of the witches.

Macbeth and Banquo present their theories on the witches’ disappearance. They are convinced that nature is a part of it.

A.1,S.3,P.4: Macbeth: “Into the air, and what seemed corporal
Melted, as breath into the wind. Would they had stayed.”

Aswell as Banquo, Macbeth is confused about the origin and disappearance of the witches. Both Macbeth and Banquo present theories in which they talk about natural forces and how the witches manipulate them. They theory that the witches are a part of the chain of being and how they originate from the underworld.
